Any idea what is the special occasion that is being celebrated every second Sunday of May almost throughout the world? It’s Mother’s Day, a holiday specially created to celebrate our first hero, our Mother. Mother’s Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family or individual, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. Mother’s Day is one of the greatest and most special day to celebrate with your mother by showing her your love, praise, and appreciation for all the hard work and unconditional love that she has done while raising her children. Their unfailing love, work, sacrifices, and patience are incomparable. They are our first heroes, supportive fans, doctors, and best teachers. They are the only worker who worked 24/7 without expecting any compensation.

Did you know that Mother’s Day Celebration originated in the United States way back in the 19th century? Through the effort of Ann Reeves Jarvis of West Virginia, she helped to establish a “Mother’s Day” celebration to honor the sacrifices that mothers made for their children. Mother’s Day became one of the U.S. official holidays in 1914.

Tracing back our history, the ancient Greeks and Romans also held festivals in honor of their mother goddesses Rhea and Cybelle. It is very similar to the modern-day Mother’s day celebration, which is being held every second Sunday of May in most parts of the world. Some countries celebrate this occasion on different days, like March or May.

Do yo have any idea how many phone calls are being made during Mother’s Day compared to any other day of the year? Amazingly, phone traffic during this holiday spike to almost 37%. A lot of users chat with their moms expressing their filial piety, love and appreciation because they are far away from home or for some other reasons that they can’t be with her on that day.

This Mother’s Day, don’t forget your simple but meaningful gift as she deserves more than just a material thing. Call her, make time for her, make her day extra special and just simply whisper, “YOU’RE THE BEST, I LOVE YOU”.
